The Marriage Braid Represents...

The Marriage Braid, like the unity candle, symbolizes leaving one's parents and coming together as one.  But the Marriage Braid doesn't just symbolize bringing the bride and groom together, it symbolizes and illustrates what God truly intended marriage to be...the coming together of the bride, groom and God in an unbreakable cord of three.  The Bible verse behind this idea is Ecclesiastes 4:12, which states, "A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

God designed marriage to be a sacred covenant between the bride, groom and Himself...a covenant not to be broken.  The Marriage Braid symbolizes and illustrates this covenant.
